Muskies Win Twice to Advance to Series Finale

On Saturday, the Muskies claimed victories in both the quarterfinals and semifinals to advance to the National Amateur Baseball Federation 2025 World Series Championship game. 

In their quarterfinal matchup the Muskies took on the Addison Braves.  Andy Gaytan collected three hits in four at bats, as Beecher defeated the Braves 6-1 at North Central College's Zimmerman Baseball Field. Gaytan hit a home run to right field in the first inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the sixth inning.  The Muskies were the first to get on the board in the first when Gaytan homered to right field, scoring two runs.

 

Kris Honel earned the win for Beecher.  The hurler gave up five hits and one run over seven innings, striking out two and walking one. Caleb Martinez took the loss for Addison. The righty went four and one-third innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits, striking out four and walking two.

 

The Muskies piled up 10 hits in the game. AJ Le went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Marty Coyle collected two hits for the Muskies in four at bats. 

In game 2, the Muskies took on the top seeded Chicago Clout. There were runs aplenty as the Muskies beat the Clout 10-9. Beecher collected 12 hits, while the Clout had 17.

 

The Muskies didn't take the lead until late in the game. The game was tied at nine in the bottom of the eighth when Patrick Carmody singled, scoring one run.  The Clout jumped out to the lead in the top of the second inning after Dom Gerace doubled, scoring two runs, Matt Kucharski grounded out, scoring one run, and David Rubin singled, scoring one run.  The Clout added one run in the third. Mike Farnan doubled to center field, making the score 5-1.  The Muskies tied the game up in the bottom of the seventh thanks to three singles.  Beecher tied the game again at eight on a single by Andrew Olszewski.  The Clout took the lead again in the top of the eighth. Dino Biggers doubled, scoring one run, to give Clout the leg up, 9-8.  The Muskies captured the lead, 10-9, in the bottom of the eighth after AJ Le doubled down the left field line, and Carmody singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

 

Bryce Shafer earned the win for Muskies. The right-handed pitcher surrendered six hits and three runs over four innings, striking out eight and walking one. Trevor Bumstead took the loss for Clout. The right-handed pitcher went two-thirds of an inning, giving up two runs (one earned) on one hit, striking out none.

 

The two wins give the Muskies a berth in the World Series title game at noon Sunday against the Berea, OH Blue Sox at North Central.
