Muskies Win in Extras for Second World Series Win
8/2/2025

Thursday, July 31st at Lee Pfund Memorial Stadium in Wheaton Illinois the Beecher Muskies  played their second game of the NABF World Series. After winning handily in game one of the tournament, 13-0, the Muskies would have a different experience Thursday night, but equally as positive a result. The Muskies would take on the Fort Wayne Jackers. On the mound Brooks McDowell would have a fantastic outing. He would pitch eight innings and only give up one run, striking out eight batters. The problem was, after 7 innings his fellow Muskie teammates had only scored one run. With this part of the tournament being 7 inning games, extra innings would need to happen. In the top of the eighth inning, after a hit by pitch and intentional walk, designated hitter Mark Dye would come up clutch for his Muskies. He would hit an RBI single to right field, taking the lead for Beecher. After an error the muskies would score a few more runs. In the bottom of the eighth, McDowell would come back and finish the game, going a complete game and only allowing one run. After a 5-1 win in extra innings, the Muskies will play again tomorrow, looking for being 3-0 in pool play.
