Muskies Close Regular Season with Loss at Beecher

The Muskies closed out the 2025 regular season on Sunday at Beecher's Sippel Memorial Field with a 10-2 loss to their Chicago Suburban Baseball League rival, the Lombard Orioles.  The game was tied 2-2 in the seventh when the Orioles put up 5 runs to take a 7-2 lead.  Ben Carlile took the loss for Beecher as one of eight Muskie hurlers to pitch in the game. The southpaw went one inning, surrendering five runs on five hits, striking out none and walking one. The Muskies collected nine hits in the game.  Karl Gotsch (pictured), the Muskies' number eight hitter, led the team with two hits in three at-bats.

 

The loss drops the Muskies to 18-7 in CSBL play and leaves them in a virtual tie with Lombard for first place in the league standings.  The team is 22-9 overall.  They will open play in the 111th annual National Amateur Baseball Federation World Series on Wednesday night.  The opening game will be at Wheaton College at 7:30 PM against Erie Buffalo.
