Muskies Fall 14-8 to Beavers

On Tuesday, the Muskies travelled to Hammond's Riverside Park to take on the Little Calumet Beavers in a Chicago Suburban Baseball League game.  Even though the Muskies collected 10 hits to the Beavers' eight, they still fell 14-8. Tyler Brody led Beecher with four hits.

 

The Beavers got on the board in the bottom of the second inning, scoring 3 times off reliever Karl Gotsch.  The Muskies jumped back into the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Brody singled down the right field line, Bren Milburn singled to the right side of the infield, Taylor Fuerst singled to the left side of the infield, and Milburn stole home, each scoring one run.  The Beavers made the score 6-4 in the bottom of the fourth after Gurgone doubled, scoring two runs, and Arnold grounded out, scoring one run.  The Muskies took the lead back in the top of the fifth when Zac Ruzich drew a bases loaded walk, scoring one run, and Brody singled, scoring two runs.  Disaster struck for the Muskies in the bottom of the sixth, when the Beavers scored eight runs on three hits to take the lead, 14-8. 

 

Gotsch pitched three innings in relief for Beecher. The righty gave up four hits and six runs (three earned) while, striking out one and walking one. Michael Leonard took the loss for Muskies. The reliever went one and one-third innings, giving up seven runs (six earned) on one hit, striking out three and walking three. Brandon Dubois stepped on the bump first for Muskies making his first appearance since hip surgery in early June. The righty gave up zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out one and walking none. 

 

The Muskies will travel to Lombard for a CSBL game with the Lombard Orioles for their next game on Thursday.
