Andrew Olszewski (pictured right) collected four hits in five at bats, but the Muskies fell to the Calumet Beavers by a lopsided score of 12-4 on Tuesday night at Gouwens Park. Olszewski doubled in the eighth inning, doubled in the seventh inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the fifth inning.
The Beavers got on the board in the top of the fifth inning off Muskie starter Brooks McDowell on a bases loaded walk and RBI single down the right field line, each scoring one run. They scored again in the sixth to take a 3-0 lead. In the bottom of the sixth, Nolan Czako drove home Camden Kearney to get the Muskies on the board. Then, in the seventh, Marty Coyle doubled to right field on a full count driving in Olszewski and Thomas Offill to tie the score. It remained 3-3 until the Beavers erupted in the top of the eighth, scoring nine runs on six hits to take the lead, 12-3. Olszewski doubled home another Muskie run in the eighth to make the final 12-4.
McDowell gave up six hits and three runs over six innings, striking out three and walking three. Reliever Jack Callejo was charged with the loss. The Muskies collected 11 hits in the game with Camden Kearney providing three hits in three at bats. He also drew a pair of walks to reach base in all five of his plate appearances.
The Muskies will host the CSBL leading Addison Braves in their next game, a 7:30 PM contest at Gouwens Park on Thursday night.
