The Muskies scored 10 runs in the third inning to help them defeat the Calumet Beavers 12-2 on Sunday at Sippel Memorial Field. In the big inning, Tyler Brody and Marty Coyle had RBI singles and Thomas Offill an RBI double. The big blow was a Mark Dye homer to left field, scoring three runs. As the Muskies batted around in the inning, Brody later doubled, driving in two more runs, Quintin Alexander's sacrifice fly drove in a run and Offill singled to drive in another. Two more Muskies runs crossed the plate in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 12-2. AJ Le hit a solo home run to center field, and Brody drew a bases loaded walk to score a run.
Jack Callejo earned the win for Muskies. The reliever allowed no hits and no runs over one inning. Bryce Shafer (pictured above left) led things off on the hill for Muskies. The starter gave up three hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out nine and walking one. Zach Millsap pitched one inning of scoreless ball for Muskies in relief. The reliever allowed one hit, striking out one and walking none.
The Muskies tallied 12 hits in the game. Brody led Beecher with four runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The third baseman went 2-for-3 on the day. Camden Kearney, Brody, and Offill each collected two hits for Muskies.
The Muskies improved to 5-1 on the season and return to Chicago Suburban Baseball League play on Tuesday against the New Lenox Pumas at Diamond Point Park in Bourbonnais. Game time is 7:30 PM.
