On Sunday night, the Chicago Suburban Baseball League inducted three more members into its Hall of Fame at the league's annual winter meeting. The Hall of Fame began in 2006 and twenty years later, the Class of 2026 brings the total number of inductees to 64.
Longtime Muskie closer Corey Schultz was one of the 2026 inductees. In his time as a Muskie, Schultz (pictured left with Muskies manager Fred LeSage) racked up 103 saves in 118 opportunities while posting a career ERA of 2.40. He struck out 290 batters in 273 innings of work and appeared in 247 games in his 14 seasons pitching for the Muskies. He was named the Chicago Suburban Baseball League's Reliever of the Year four times since the award was instituted in 2019. His 157 appearances in CSBL play are the most by any pitcher in league history. Schultz was the 2012 Patrick Rademacher Scholarship winner and was named to the 2024 NABF All World Series Team. A graduate of the University of St. Francis, Schultz holds the school's record for career pitching appearances.
Schultz is the 14th Muskie to be honored with a CSBL Hall of Fame induction. He joins players Steve Lane, Todd Sippel, Bill Nelson, Steve Brook, Dave Blomberg, Jason Squier, Mike Henderson, Ryan Kopp, Brandon Dubois and Jimmy Calderone as well as coaches Brad Meyer and Wendell Thomas and longtime manager Fred LeSage. The other 2026 inductees include Oswego Cats pitcher Lou Hernandez and Lombard Orioles infielder Ryan Tuntland.
