The Muskies defeated the New Lenox Pumas 12-5 on Thursday at Lincoln-Way Central High School thanks in part to nine runs in the sixth inning when the Muskies sent 14 hitters to the plate.  They took advantage of eight walks by Puma pitchers and RBI base hits from Andy Gaytan and Camden Kearney.  The score had been tied at 3 after Beecher had taken an early 2-0 lead before surrendering runs in the second and fourth to trail 3-2.  A Gaytan single in the fifth plated what was the tying run to make it 3-3 before the sixth inning outburst.  The Pumas picked up a pair of runs off Muskie reliever Kearney in the seventh to end the scoring and make the final 12-5.

Alex Rodriguez earned the win for Beecher. The righty gave up four hits and three runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking four. Carter Garrelts took the loss for New Lenox Pumas. Zack Millsap (pictured) tossed one inning of shutout ball for Muskies in relief. The hurler gave up one hit, striking out three and walking none.  Andrew Olszewski and Gaytan each collected two hits for Muskies. Kearney, Nolan Czako, and Gaytan each drove in two runs.  

The win improves the Muskies' record on the season to 20-6 overall and 16-5 in Chicago Suburban Baseball League play.  They play next on Sunday in a CSBL doubleheader against the Chicago Warriors.  Game 1 has a 4 pm scheduled first pitch at North Park University in Chicago.
