The Chicago Suburban Baseball League announced its 2017 award winners on Tuesday. Two Muskie pitchers took home pitching honors as Steve Styck was named the league's Pitcher of the Year while Drew Weston was named the Collegiate Pitcher of the Year.
Styck (above left) started 9 CSBL games to lead the league and posted a 4-3 record with a 2.59 ERA. He was second in the league in innings pitched at 48 2/3 while leading the league in strikeouts with 50. He becomes the sixth Muskie pitcher to be honored as the CSBL's top hurler. Jason Squier was honored in 2005, Brandon Dubois twice - in 2006 and 2007, Andy Marquie in 2010 and John Fightmaster in 2015.
Weston (above right), from Spring Arbor University, went 5-0 in CSBL play in 2017. The lefthander posted a 1.67 ERA with a WHIP of just 0.85. Following the CSBL season, Weston signed with the Detroit Tigers. He is currently 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA in the Rookie League Gulf Coast League.
