John Fightmaster picked up NAIA Gold Glove honors following an outstanding senior season.

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2014 Rawlings-NAIA Baseball Gold Glove Team, as selected by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association All-America Selection Committee. For the eighth year, a total of nine players were chosen based upon their defensive success.

 

Muskie righthander John Fightmaster, a senior from Olivet Nazarene University, earned Gold Glove honors as the only pitcher selected in the NAIA. In 15 appearances, he had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, including 25 assists, 11 putouts and four double plays. He is the first ONU Tiger to earn the Gold Glove honor.


In 2014, Fightmaster appeared in 15 games for ONU, starting 14. He had a team-best 9-4 record and  2.86 ERA. He pitched seven complete games with three shutouts and was named to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference First Team and Gold Glove Team following the 2014 season.
